Terms of Service

Last updated: June 8, 2026. Effective immediately.

1. The agreement

By installing or using Ozulon ("the Software"), you ("you") agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install the Software.

2. License

Ozulon grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on machines you personally own or administer, for as long as your license is valid. One purchased license covers one user. Team licenses cover the number of seats purchased.

Your purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It includes 12 months of updates from your purchase date — every improvement and fix we ship in that window is yours at no extra cost. After 12 months, the app keeps working forever with everything released up to that point; to keep receiving new updates beyond the first year, you can renew at a discounted rate. Renewing is always optional, and your installed version never stops working.

3. AI Credits and AI features

Some features — such as AI Explain, AI guide generation (a guide's title, step descriptions, and summary), and cloud voiceover or transcription for guides and videos — are powered by Google's Gemini API and consume AI Credits. These cloud AI features are always opt-in: they require you to be signed in to an Ozulon account with available credits, and they run only when you explicitly choose them. They never run automatically or in the background, and no content is sent to the cloud unless you trigger one of them. You receive a number of free credits when you sign up or start a trial.

Credits are a consumable digital good: they have no cash value, are not transferable, and do not expire. They are sold and processed by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, as merchant of record, and are separate from your Software license. To the extent permitted by law, credits that have been consumed are non-refundable; this does not affect any statutory rights you may have. We may change pricing and which features consume credits, with notice for material changes.

4. Free trial

Every download starts with a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required. When the trial ends, a valid license is required to keep using Ozulon. Cloud AI features additionally require an Ozulon account and AI Credits, as described above.

5. What you own, what we own

You own every screenshot you take with Ozulon and every annotation you create. We claim no rights over your content.

Ozulon owns the Software itself, including source code, trademarks, and visual identity. You may not decompile, redistribute, or resell the Software. This restriction applies only to Ozulon's own proprietary code — not to the third-party open-source components bundled with it.

6. Open-source and third-party software

Ozulon includes third-party open-source software, AI models, and fonts. Each is licensed under its own terms, which are reproduced in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt file included with the app (also viewable under Settings → About). Nothing in these Terms limits any rights granted to you under those licenses.

In particular, Ozulon's video features use FFmpeg, which is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPLv3) and distributed as a separate program. You may use, modify, and redistribute the FFmpeg binary under the GPLv3; the full license text and a written offer for the corresponding source code are included alongside the FFmpeg executable. The redistribution restrictions in these Terms do not apply to FFmpeg or to any other bundled component governed by its own open-source license.

AI Explain and AI guide generation use Google's Gemini API. Your use of those features is also subject to Google's terms. See the Privacy Policy for the full data-flow description.

If you connect OneDrive or Google Drive, those features use Microsoft's and Google's services respectively, and your use of them is subject to Microsoft's and Google's terms. Files you upload through these features go directly from your device to your own cloud account.

7. AI output and warranty disclaimer

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty. AI features generate content automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete; you are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on or sharing it. Privacy Shield aggressively detects sensitive data, but no detection system is perfect — you remain responsible for reviewing the content of every screenshot you share.

8. Limitation of liability

Our liability for any claim relating to the Software is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months before the claim arose.

9. Refunds

See the Refund Policy, or contact us at contactus@ozulon.com.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time. We may terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms (for example, redistributing the Software commercially without authorization). In that case we will refund any unused portion of a recent purchase.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email to active license holders at least 30 days before they take effect.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Software will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Washington, and you consent to their jurisdiction — except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home jurisdiction. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief to protect its intellectual property.
